Turaka, Lagos

Túráká is a comfortable, spacious restaurant and bar, located at Ebony Life Place. It’s an all-inclusive resort (luxury cinema, boutique hotel, spaces that display contemporary art and multiple restaurants). It is on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Turaka is a rooftop spot, so you get an amazing, 360° view of the Victoria Island skyline. It is the perfect place to catch the lovely Lagos sunset and enjoy the cool evening breeze. All these elements come together and make you feel relaxed, hence the name "Túráká", which translates to "let loose and relax".

I noticed a lot of attention went into the set up for Turaka. The relaxing mood-enhancing music, the comfortable cushioned lounge couches and the general ambience are all very intentional. The seating arrangement is intimate setting but not in a way that it makes you feel cramped. This venue works well for a nice date or a business meeting.

The service is pretty good, with enough waiters on hand to handle visitor needs. The Turaka menu isn't cumbersome, and highlights a good variety of starters, mains and drinks with local and foreign influences.

After taking in the view, we ordered the Half Price Túráká Platter, Fried Prawns with Túráká Sauce, A Long Island Iced Tea and an Orange Crush!

I really enjoyed the wings in the platter. The tomato and onion sauce they were coated in was just bursting with flavor! However, I would have loved the rest of the platter to match that. The prawns were nicely spiced and batter fried, giving a crunchy outer coating that worked very well with the creamy, citrusy sauce it was served with.

The cocktails were also very good, strong and refreshing. They do say they have the best cocktails in town and they are definite contenders!

Given the ambience, location and experience on offer, the pricing is competitive. It is a great place to enjoy a nice sunset while you wait out the heavy Victoria Island traffic. There is ample parking as well.

Túráká is open from 5pm - 11pm (Weekdays) and 6pm - 2am (Weekends). Happy hour runs from 5pm - 7pm on Mondays to Thursdays, and offers a good bargain for guests. A starter and a drink for N5,000 ($13.62), which is what we got! Portions were adequate as well.

You can walk in or you can make a reservation on +234 906 800 0006.

Easy to read as always. Although this time I got a little carried away and now I’m starving. Will have to check out that menu for myself.
