Lakowe Golf Resort, Lagos

Lakowe Golf Resort is a serene resort about an hour drive away from Lekki Phase 1. Link to google maps HERE. It was strange to experience such a quiet space within the hustle and bustle of Lagos city. With a large number of lakes and an 18 – hole golf course, one can imagine just how big the resort is.

They have an on-site restaurant and you have access to the full menu from the comfort of your room or cottage. If their menu is not to your liking, or you require additional items, there is a Shoprite about 5 minutes from the resort, so you can get snacks, drinks, see a movie (Genesis Cinema, Sangotedo), etc. There is a small grocery store and pharmacy at the resort by the way…

We stayed in one of the cottages, which were very nice long stay vacation homes, with simple and tasteful furnishing and layout. Wooden floors, wooden walls, bamboo roofs, a verandah, 2 bedrooms, spacious showers and plenty of floor space. They have spa/massage services on demand as well…

Being an 18-hole golf course, you can imagine that there is a myriad of outdoor activities you can engage in. If you are the type that likes some cardio in the morning, its lovely to take in the views as you walk/run/cycle past the holes. If you are looking to take up golf, there are beginner lessons (not sure what the details are). We walked through the entire course, took us about an hour plus, brief paced.

You can also go fishing or take a paddle boat (seats 4 people, “driver” included) in many of the lakes. It is 20-30 minutes away from beaches like Eleko beach (Check out my post on that), Oniru beach, Elegushi beach and La Campagne Tropicana.

Things to note:

Being around a lot of water bodies, you will definitely need some kind of insect repellant. The mosquitoes and sand flies don’t play!

Bring some cards or your favourite board games.

Put 1 or 2 liquor bottles in your suitcase 😉

If you are looking for a quiet place to get away for the weekend and soak up all of nature’s grandness, I highly recommend it. You can even book them on Airbnb FROM about $150 a night (Go with 3 friends and its a bargain)!
